Form data fields, choice sets & validation

In LiveBall, you have full control of your forms and form fields — you define how you want the data collected, displayed, validated and exported.

Data fields

Data fields are the fields you would like to include on a form. For example, common data fields are: first name, last name, email address, address, etc. You may also enable encryption or set up "hidden" fields using data fields (data captured, but not displayed on a form).

Choice sets

Choice sets are the choices you will make available for questions that have more than one possible answer. For example, a list of countries that will be available in a drop down field on a form. Think of these as the "answers" that will appear in drop downs, radio button choices or as checkboxes.

Validation patterns

Using "regular expressions" you can define how a field should be validated. If you don't know what this means, don't worry! LiveBall comes with common validation patterns pre-installed. For example, standard validation patterns check to ensure a valid email address and telephone numbers are entered by the visitor. Additional validation patterns and custom regular expressions can be added to the validation pattern library at any time.

The form library

Forms in LiveBall are independent of pages. Forms are stored in their own centralized library that you can access to insert them into your pages. Forms can be inserted in narrow spaces, wider spaces, high on pages, low on pages, within content, below content — you get the idea!

Creating & editing forms

Forms in LiveBall are entirely customizable — you can start from scratch, or use a form that has already pre-built in your LiveBall console.

Step-by-Step Instructions for Creating & Editing Forms

TIP—Custom HTML forms can also be created in LiveBall. You provide the complete HTML for the form — the ‹form›‹/form› tags and everything in between. Learn how.

Adding/removing forms from creatives

After you've created your data fields and built your form(s) in the library, you will simply add it to your landing page via the drop down in the form editor.

Previewing your form

There are two places you can preview your forms. Previewing your form in the form management screen allows you to review the setup of your form as you create or edit it. It is a very basic preview and does not contain stylized formatting. Use the creative preview to interact with the form as a visitor would. Testing of form functionality, validation patterns, etc. via the creative preview is recommended.

Form testing & optimization

All of LiveBall’s forms agility works towards making testing alternatives fast and easy. Forms may be A/B tested by inserting different versions into different pages. And forms can be tested using MVT (multivariate testing) to give you rock-solid in-page optimization.
