How Do I Track Conversions That Happen Outside of LiveBall? (External Conversions)

You can designate any action a user takes on any LiveBall page as a “conversion”, such as completing a form. But, you might have a campaign where the conversion must happens outside of LiveBall, such as an ecommerce transaction or financial form. No problem! When you have an external conversion, it’s still a good idea to track in LiveBall, so you know which paths and traffic sources are driving your conversions.

There are 3 ways to track conversions externally.

  1. Web beacon. The web beacon is the simplest way to track external conversions in LiveBall. A simple javascript code will be provided to you for placement into your ‘Thank you’ (conversion) page. When a user reaches your thank you/confirmation page, the beacon transmits that conversion confirmation back to LiveBall. If your thank you/confirmation page is in ‘https’ there will be a few things we need to sort out with you, so contact your account manager for help with this.
  2. Web Service. This is a pretty cool option if your thank you/confirmation page is in ‘https’, but does require IT implementation on your side. Technical specifications of the web service and cookie will be provided to you for implementation.
  3. Redirect to LiveBall. When a user converts externally, you can seamlessly redirect them to a thank you/confirmation page in LiveBall, and LiveBall will record this as a conversion. In order to send a respondent back to LiveBall after conversion, your system must support this function. When a user completes your form, shopping cart, etc, you will redirect to a ‘Thank you’ (conversion) page in LiveBall to be tracked.

There are several considerations to the options above. To learn the specifics of each, please contact your account manager.
